Local 071 Strategic Plan Information and Resources
Local 071 Council has chosen Workplace Power as our area of focus.
The AUPE Strategic Plan focuses on four key areas supported by the guiding statements developed by the Provincial Executive:
Negotiations: While recognizing members are the cornerstone of the union’s power, AUPE must create a culture of member education in the bargaining process, and its limitations, to empower members and maximize leverage in successful collective bargaining, including preparations for job action while fostering transparency and communication throughout the entire bargaining process.
Workplace Power: Developing new and consistent approaches to engage all members through their AUPE journey, while increasing Stewards on-site that have the support and mentorship in place to build union culture and AUPE brand awareness.
External Relationships: AUPE will work with its members, like-minded and non-traditional partners to defend, improve and inform the public of the importance of public services.
Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity: AUPE will create a union culture of inclusion, diversity, and equity by seeking clarity and understanding which will allow us to build and strengthen relationships and take actions towards removing barriers facing equity-seeking groups and engaging in reconciliation actions.
